Christmas Parade date set, register floats now

The theme for this year’s Gluckstadt Christmas Parade is “All Aboard the Ornament Express.”

The 2024 Gluckstadt Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 14, at 9 a.m. 

Mayor Walter Morrison recently thanked organizer Jeannie Robinson and the rest of the Christmas Parade Committee at a recent city meeting where they approved the date of the parade.

“They have done a phenomenal job,” Morrison said.

The committee approved the date and theme at a meeting at the end of August and have begun planning this family-friendly event.

Last year, the parade was held on Dec. 9 with a 9 a.m. start time at Germantown High School. The route turned onto the Calhoun Station Parkway, where it headed south. The parade then turned left on Gluckstadt Way at Callaway’s and went back to Germantown High School using the back entrance.

Robinson has said she hopes the event will become a staple in the city’s developing Christmas traditions.

“We hope to use the same loop year after year,” Robinson said.

Robinson said the route anticipates a future downtown for Gluckstadt and will go by the future sites of the proposed Gluckstadt Police Station and City Hall.
