RIDGELAND — Christ Covenant School associated with Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church at 752 S. Pear Orchard Road here will expand to include grades nine through 12, with the ninth-grade being added as early as August 2022, the school recently announced.

The new high school will be located on property adjacent to the back entrance, 441 Northpark Drive, that school leaders said is being secured for renovation and will be connected to the existing campus that currently includes preschool 3 through eight-grade.

“We are pleased to announce the expansion of Christ Covenant school to include 9th-12th grades,” the school stated in an Oct. 21 social media post. “We look forward to continuing our Partnership with existing families as well as new families seeking a Christ-centered, more affordable, college preparatory High School setting for their children. We are grateful that the Lord sees it fit for this prayerfully considered endeavor to come to fruition. In the words of our faithful leader and Head of School, Cathy Haynie, ‘It IS Time’!

“#CommittedtoExcellence #CommittedtoChrist

“‘Make me to know Your ways O Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in the truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I will wait all the day long.’ Psalm 25:4-5”

The school said the plan is for the new facility to open in August 2023.

“Consideration to current eighth-grade families will be given to determine the feasibility of offering a ninth-grade class within our current school structure and program on August of 2022,” according to the school.

The project, school officials said, will be funded through a $2 million gift for phase one.

“The school will raise funds for other projects to complement phase one, such as enhanced space for activities and athletics and for phase two, increased classroom space in the same vicinity,” a letter from the school states.

The school offers Bible and traditional academics with both advanced coursework and learning support. Elective offerings include strategic use of technology to enhance the overall academic experience, school officials said.
