Children’s book to be re-published

Kathy’s Adventures, a children’s book written by Ricci Ivers Casserly of Madison, is getting a fresh coat of paint and being republished in the next couple of months.

Kathy’s Adventures was originally published in 2011 by Tate Publishing in the United Kingdom but was picked up for republishing by Bookwhip in Fullerton, Cali.

The book tells the story of a little girl named Ricci and her doll Kathy. As time passes, Ricci plays with Kathy less and less, until one day Kathy disappears. Ricci then embarks on a journey for the next twenty years to find her doll.

“This book is mainly aimed at kids who are seven years old or younger,” Casserly said. “My publisher wanted the book to be republished and on the shelves again, to revitalize it. They want to do this so the public can see it again.”

Casserly is 63 years old and has been writing books for several years after Kathy’s Adventures hit store shelves in 2011.

“I currently have two sequels to Kathy’s Adventures in the works, Kathy’s Adventures in Dublin and Kathy’s Adventures in Paris,” she said.

Casserly said she felt the most important thing about the book is that it teaches kids in the seven and under age range about foreign places like Paris.

“It’s a fun way for them to discover things like other countries,” she said.

Ethell White, Casserly’s consultant at Bookwhip Publishing, is excited that Casserly chose them for the republishing.

“It’s really great that she came to us for this,” White said. “She approached us back in March of this year and we’re excited to republish the book.”

White said that along with the book being republished, it’s also in the market of being turned into a film adaptation.

“We’re looking at getting the book into film, and Mrs. Casserly has services that can maximize the book in the entertainment industry,” she said. “It’s still an ongoing project, but the feedback on her editorial assessment was great.”

White noted that part of this project was a cinematic book trailer being submitted to Netflix.

“We want to maximize social media marketing,” she said. “Social media activity is up due to the pandemic and we want to make the most of that.”

Kathy’s Adventures will be available to purchase from metro bookstores within the next couple months. The book can also be purchased from Amazon.
