The Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce will host “A Night in Blue” – a candlelight vigil and tribute to the Ridgeland Police Department, Thursday, September 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, 444 Northpark Drive.  The event is open to the public.

“As we remember our law enforcement community during this special week, we thank our Ridgeland Police Officers for working diligently to shield us from harm,” said Linda Bynum, Ridgeland Chamber executive director.  “Our candlelight vigil will remember our nation’s fallen – the real life heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice and we will lift up and honor our 75 men and women in blue – our Ridgeland Police officers who are there to step in, ready to lay down their lives to protect each of us.”

Twenty lighted lanterns will be released to honor Ridgeland’s officers.  Candles will be provided to all for the vigil.

“We hope our community will come out and show our police force how much we appreciate them,” Bynum added.  “They do a thankless job and now is the time to honor them and show them that we ‘Back the Blue’”.

Breakfast and dinner will be served to the Ridgeland Police Department during Police Appreciation Week.
