Carol Sykes Wiley, age 92, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Carol was born in Gibson, Mississippi, on June 14, 1932, and raised in Monroe County.

A high school and business school graduate, Carol worked as a business associate and legal secretary for sixty years until she retired at age 79, and then volunteered at Methodist Rehabilitation Center. She possessed a remarkable work ethic and was known for her meticulous grammar and spelling, which she did her best to instill in others; her delicious pot roast; and her homemade chocolate chip cookies. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Madison for many decades and undoubtedly entered Heaven with a “well done, good and faithful servant” greeting.

She is survived by her daughters Gail Zirtzlaff (Dave); Judy Hughes (Doug); and Lisa Hathorn (Sam). Her greatest treasures called her Mimi - her three grandchildren, Heidi Bessette (Andy); Shannon Draper (Reid); and Hayes Hathorn; and four great-grandsons, Bryce Draper; Dylan Draper; Theodore Bessette; and Oliver Bessette.

Carol is predeceased by, and now reunited with her parents Stella and Clifton Sykes; brothers Gordon and Buddy; and sister Edna Maurine.

A visitation for Carol will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi, followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. and burial at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to First Baptist Church in Madison, Mississippi, or the charity of your choice.
