Canton native joins MGC as running backs coach

Canton native Nicholas Beasley has been added to the 2019 National Champion’s, Mississippi Gulf Coast football coaching staff in charge of the Bulldog’s running backs.

He spent last year as an assistant at St. Joseph Catholic High School, his alma mater. Beasley was a Clarion-Ledger All-Metro First Team player for the Madison school,

where he had 1,163 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns as a junior, as well as 66 tackles and five interceptions. He played in the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Game after his

senior season when he ran for 509 yards and seven touchdowns, caught passes for 535 yards and nine touchdowns and had 72 tackles and five interceptions.

Beasley played one season at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, picking up 44 tackles, a sack and an interception as a redshirt freshman in 2014.

He signed with Middle Tennessee but sustained a career-ending knee injury during spring drills.

Beasley is a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Middle Tennessee State University and currently pursuing a masters in sports management. 

Beasley is the son of Stanford & Melba Beasley, Sr. of Canton, MS
