Madison Police have reported all-clear after investigating a bomb threat that evacuated a C Spire store and Starbucks on Baptist Drive and shut the area down for over an hour on Tuesday.

Madison Police Capt. Kevin Newman said that no devices were found after a thorough search of the building at 701 Baptist Drive.

C Spire has not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Newman said that MPD received a call around 1:58 p.m. from the manager of the C Spire store reporting that they had just received a bomb threat.

MPD was on the scene within minutes and the manager stated that she received a phone call that there was a bomb inside the building.

Officers then evacuated the C Spire store as well as nearby businesses that include a Starbucks and blocked off the area. Newman said they wanted to secure the area from the traveling public.

Officers then conducted a “thorough search of the entire building complex at 701 Baptist Drive” and no harmful devices were located.

Newman said that all businesses and streets returned to normal at approximately 3:02 p.m.
