Region and district play is in full swing for area baseball and softball teams, with many teams moving their way up the standings over the last week.

Madison Central baseball split a region series with Tupelo last week and defeated Clinton 6-0 on Tuesday, improving to 14-4 on the season. The Jaguars will play Clinton again on Friday and will host Newton County on Saturday.

Madison Central softball picked up a pair of region wins over Germantown and Starkville, before falling to Kosciusko on Tuesday, moving to 10-6-1 on the season. The Lady Jaguars will travel to Clinton on Thursday and host Northwest Rankin on Saturday. 

Germantown baseball split a region series with Starkville, before falling to Warren Central on Tuesday, dropping to 10-11 on the year. The Mavericks will host Quitman on Thursday to round out the week.

Germantown softball split region games last week, defeating Clinton 6-4 and falling 8-6 to Tupelo, while also defeating North Pike to improve to 14-7 on the season. The Lady Mavericks will play again on Monday in a home matchup against Loyd Star. 

Ridgeland baseball swept a region series against Columbus last week, improving to 8-6 and 4-0 in region play. The Titans will play Neshoba Central on Wednesday and Friday in a region series. 

Canton baseball split two region games over the last week, defeating Holmes County 16-1 and falling 5-1 to Greenville, to move to 6-3 on the season. The Tigers will play Gentry and Cleveland Central to round out the week. 

Canton softball was swept by Gentry last week, falling to 2-3 on the season. The Lady Tigers are scheduled to take on Greenville next week.

St. Andrew’s baseball picked up three region wins over the last week, sweeping Puckett last week and winning 16-0 over Pelahatchie on Tuesday, improving to 14-6 on the season. The Saints will play Terry on Thursday, Pelahatchie on Friday, and Yazoo County on Saturday. 

St. Andrew’s softball split matchups with McLaurin and Jim Hill last week, moving to 6-17 on the season. The Lady Saints will travel to Puckett on Thursday to round out the week. 

MRA baseball went 2-1 in a series with Jackson Prep last week, before falling to PCS 9-4 in their series opener on Tuesday, moving to 11-10 on the season. The Patriots will play a doubleheader in Hattiesburg against PCS on Thursday. 

St. Joseph baseball was swept by Hartfield Academy last week and fell to Jackson Prep 6-1  in their series opener on Tuesday, moving to 9-9 on the year. The Bruins will finish their series with Jackson Prep on Thursday and Friday.

Jackson Prep baseball took one out of three games in their region series with MRA last week, but defeated St. Joseph 6-1 on Tuesday, moving to 14-7-1 on the season. The Patriots will round out their series with St. Joseph on Thursday and Friday.

Jackson Academy baseball took one out of three games against PCS in a region series last week, before falling 6-2 to Hartfield Academy on Tuesday. The Raiders are now 14-5 on the season and will finish their series with Hartfield Academy on Thursday and Friday.

Tri-County Academy baseball swept a series with Copiah Academy last week and defeated Central Hinds Academy 14-0 in their series opener, improving to 15-3 on the season. The Rebels will round out their series with Central Hinds with a doubleheader on Thursday. 

Canton Academy baseball swept a region series with Carroll Academy last week and defeated Oak Hill Academy 9-4 in their series opener, improving to 9-12 on the season. The Panthers will finish their series with Oak Hill Academy on Thursday and Friday.
