As local baseball and softball teams enter the last couple weeks of the season, multiple teams are still deep into their playoff runs and are hoping to bring home a state title.

Madison Central baseball advanced to the MHSAA 7A semifinals with a series sweep over Oxford, winning 7-2 in game one and 3-1 in game two. The Jaguars are 23-7 on the season and will take on Tupelo in the 7A semifinals, with game one set for Friday at Madison Central at 7 PM.

Madison Central softball also advanced to the MHSAA 7A semifinals with a series sweep over Clinton, winning game one 5-2 and game two 4-2. The Lady Jaguars are now 17-10-1 on the season and will take on Hernando in the 7A semifinals. Game one will be on Wednesday at Madison Central, with results unavailable at print time. 

MRA baseball had a first round bye last week, after earning the two seed in the MAIS 6A playoffs. The Patriots are 20-12 on the season and will take on Presbyterian Christian in the 6A semifinals. Game one with PCS will be at MRA on Wednesday, with results unavailable at print time.

St. Joseph baseball saw their season come to an end last week, falling in a series sweep to PCS. The Bruins finish the season with a 10-20 record.

Jackson Academy baseball advanced to the MAIS 6A semifinals, winning two of three over Jackson Prep in their first round playoff series. In the semifinals, the Raiders fell 6-2 in game one to Hartfield Academy. Game two is set for Wednesday at Jackson Academy, with results unavailable at print time. 

Jackson Prep baseball saw their quest for an eighth straight state championship come to an end, losing two out of three to Jackson Academy in the first round of the MAIS 6A playoffs. The Patriots finish the season with a 20-15-1 record.

Tri-County Academy swept Central Hinds Academy in the MAIS 4A South semifinals, and defeated Riverfield Academy 8-5 in game one of the MAIS 4A South championship series, moving one win away from the MAIS 4A Overall championship series. The Rebels will play Riverfield Academy in game two on the road on Wednesday, with results unavailable at print time.
