A proposed storage complex offering roughly 1,600 square feet of space in the Gluckstadt Industrial Park moves one step closer to fruition after aldermen approved a site plan for the first building earlier this month.

Site plans for the 9,360 square foot building off of Business Park Drive by developer John Gooch were approved at the Nov. 14 meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.

The proposed facility will go on lot 6 of the Gluckstadt Industrial Park. The building will be a majority storage space and have a small office.

Plans presented to the board showed 34 parking spaces, nine spaces over the 25 spaces that would be required for such a facility. Plans also showed a planned second building measuring an additional 7,800 square feet.

Alderman Wesley Slay motioned for approval of the site plan and the motion was seconded by Alderman John Taylor. The item passed by a unanimous vote.

The matter had come before the Planning and Zoning board before and amendments were made. At the Oct. 24, meeting minor exterior changes were made that included the exterior colors of the building before the item was recommended for approval to the city board.

Aldermen also approved plans for a  proposed Four Seasons Drapery and Hardware store on the left-hand side of Yandell Road just west of Clarkdale Road.
