Absentee voting open thru Nov. 23
Absentee voting will be available through Saturday, Nov. 23, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Circuit Clerk's Office for the runoff election for Mississippi Supreme Court District 1 (Central) Position 3.
State Sen. Jenifer Branning of Philadelphia is facing off against incumbent Jim Kitchens in the contest.
Madison County Circuit Clerk Anita Wray said her office has received 600 absentee ballots for the runoff as of Wednesday, with 100 of those coming last Saturday.
Polls are open on Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the runoff.
Branning led with about 41.8 percent or 132,240 votes, while Kitchens received 35.6 percent or 112,935 votes.
In Madison County, Branning led with 24,752 votes, outpacing Kitchens, Bryon Carter, Ceola James, and Abby Gale Robinson.
Kitchens received 18,715 votes, Carter 3,062, James 3,606, and Robinson 2,379.
