RIDGELAND — Work crews closed the south end of the Highland Colony Parkway from Cole Road to Marketridge Drive Monday morning for road project that’s expected to be ongoing for up to five months.

“Thank you for your patience while we make these improvements,” a release from the city said.

Kim Cooper, city spokeswoman, said the roadway was closed on Nov. 7.

The project has a price tag of $2.85 million. According to Cooper, Bulldog Construction and AdCamp are working on the project.

The closure is expected to last about five months, Cooper said.

All traffic will be detoured using Cole Road and Marketridge Drive, officials said.

Local traffic will be permitted between Marketridge Drive and Highland Park Boulevard to access the Wrenfield subdivision, Pinehurst Circle, Highland Park Cove, and surrounding businesses.

Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic, officials said.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution and be prepared for traffic as a result of the construction.
