There are no big surprises in races for local offices in Madison County with Randall Tucker jumping out to a sizable lead in his run for the office of Sheriff.

Current numbers are preliminary and results being obtained from the Madison County Courthouse do not distinguish how many precincts have been counted.

In preliminary results Tucker has 12,265 or 63.01 percent of the vote so far to Ted Smith's 7,192 or 36.95 percent.

In other races Ronnie McGehee looks to be an easy winner for the Madison County Superintendent position with a huge lead over Patrick L. Henderson 11,246 to 2,498.

Two incumbent supervisors are also leading in their races as Democrats District 4 Supervisor Karl Banks and District 5 Supervisor Paul Griffin are opening up leads on their Republican challengers.
