MADISON - The Jaguars made short work of Tupelo in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs and sets up a rematch with rival Northwest Rankin.

Madison Central defeated the Golden Wave 48-10 scoring twice on defense and dominating on both sides of the ball.

The win sets up a second round rematch with the Northwest Rankin Cougars who narrowly defeated Southaven on the road 36-33. The game will be held at Northwest Rankin.

The Cougars defeated Madison Central back on Oct. 29 marking the Jaguars' only loss of the season so far.

In other Class 6A action Olive Branch waxed Clinton 42-14 to set up a second round matchup with South Panola who shut out Grenada 56-0.

In the south Brandon shut out George County 28-0 and will now face Oak Grove who beat Petal 35-34. Meridian defeated Ocean Springs 22-0 to set up a matchup with Gulfport who beat Natchez 38-27.
