Germantown-20 Holmes County Central-40

Germantown dropped their first district game of the season against Holmes Central. 

Holmes Central ran up and down the field against Germantown. They ran the ball 42 tims for 444 yards. Senior Robert Jackson carried the ball 15 times for 167 yards, senior Decoria Banks also ran nine times for 158 yards and three touchdowns. 

Germantown was unable to run the football effectively. They ran it 25 times for 45 yards. They did their damage through the air. Senior quarterback Colton Gardner threw the ball 24 times, completing 10 of them, for 158 yards and a touchdown. His leading receiver was Tre Davis who caught four pases for 93 yards and a touchdown. 

Germantown, 3-4 overall, will play at Neshoba Central this Friday.

Velma Jackson-62 St. Andrew’s Episcopal-17

St. Andrew’s Episcopal was totally out matched against Velma Jackson.

Velma Jackson improved to 6-1 on the year and 2-0 in district play. St. Andrew’s fell to 5-3 on the year and 1-1 in district play. Stats were unavailable for the game.

St. Andrew’s will play Magee at home this week. Velma Jackson will play Crystal Springs at home this week. 

Jackson Prep-42 Oak Forest Academy-7

Jackson Prep continued their run of dominance with a big win over Oak Forest.

Jackson Prep, 8-0, will continue their campaign for the state title at Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

Jackson Academy-6 Madison-Ridgeland 

After a dominant start to the season, Jackson Academy drops their second game in a row in blowout fashion, this week to Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

Jackson Academy will play Presbyterian Christian for homecoming this week. MRA will play Jackson Prep.

St. Joseph-23 Mize-22

St. Joseph played the closest game of the week with a big one point win over Mize

St. Joseph entered the fourth quarter up nine points and were able to hold off the comeback from Mize. 

John Bond’s squad is now 4-4 on the season and 1-2 in district. Stats were unavailable from the game.

St. Joseph will play at Canton Academy this week.

Tri-County Academy-28 River Oaks-0

Tri-County traveled to Monroe, Louisiana and dominated their foe in River Oaks.

Tri-County is 6-2 on the year and 1-0 in district play. 

They will play St. Joseph-Greenville this weekend at home.

Canton Academy-10 Starkville Academy-35

Starkville Academy dominated Canton Academy, handing Canton their third loss in the lsat four games.

Madison Central-24 Warren Central-17

Madison Central moved on to 6-1 on the year and 3-0 in district after escaping Vicksburg with a win. 

Dominant defense and just enough offense led the way for Madison Central. Sophomore running back Duke Arnold led the team with 22 carries for 121 yards and one touchdown. Junior quarterback Jimmy Holiday threw the ball 15 times completing seven for 65 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball 14 times for 72 yards. 

The defense lived in the Warren Central backfield. They racked up six sacks and recovered three fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown by junior Hayes Bufkin. The fumbles were the key t the game as Warren Central outgained Madison Central. Warren ran for 323 yards and threw for 71, but the turnovers swung things in Madison Central’s favor.

Madison Central will play Starkville at home this Friday.

Ridgeland-34 Callaway-36

Ridgeland falls to 1-2 in district play after a close loss to Callaway this past Friday.

Sophomore quarterback Zy McDonald led Ridgeland, throwing the ball 33 times, completing 17 of those passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Junior running back Markell Young ran the ball 22 times for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Richard Mays was the leading receiver with seven catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. 

Callaway was led by senior Lakenith Thompson who ran the ball 24 times for 303 yards and four touchdowns. 

Ridgeland will play Vicksburg at home this Friday.

Canton-29 Neshoba Central-54

Canton falls to 4-4 on the year and 0-3 in district play with their loss in a row.

Canton will take on Callaway at home this Friday.
