CAMDEN — Velma Jackson kept a seven-game win streak alive this past Friday night after defeating the North Pontotoc Vikings 56-42 in the 3A state championship quarterfinal match.

Falcons quarterback Antavious Willis scored the first touchdown of the matchup on a scramble from behind center. The Vikings answered to take it to 7-7 in what appeared like it would be a long night of back-and-forth.

On a later drive Willis once again found the endzone after bobbing and weaving in between Vikings defenders to lead 14-7. Again, North Pontotoc answered, but the Vikings missed the extra point and trailed 14-13.

The Falcons (12-1) never looked back and made their mission to make it to the state championships one step closer to reality.

Velma Jackson now takes on Charleston (12-2) in the North State championship. Charleston is coming off a 34-0 blanking of East Side High School. The winner of this matchup will later play the winner of Kemper County and Raleigh.
