William D. "Bill" Horne

William "Bill" Dewitt Horne, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
His wife of 58 years, Peggy Fletcher Horne, was by his side as he walked tall into his heavenly home. He was born Jan. 20, 1931, in Monticello to Dewitt Otho and Vera Grace Horne.
He is survived by his three children, Billy Horne (Kristi) of Madison, Kim McRee (Ron) of Grenada, and Chip Horne of Jackson; six grandsons, Michael (Bethany), Nathan, Tripp (Jarrah), Trevor, Zach, and Wyatt, along with two great-grandsons, Luke and Levi. Bill is also survived by his sisters, Annelle Mohamed of Belzoni and Carolyn Reed of Inverness, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After Bill graduated from Mississippi State University in 1953, he joined the US Navy.
While he was stationed in Charleston, S.C., he met the love of his life, Peg of his heart. In 1970, he started the Bill Horne Agency.
He served as President of the JALU, MALU, MS Chapter of CLU, and the North Jackson Lions Club. He was a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table.
He was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Madison.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 at Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison and Wednesday at 10 at First Baptist Church in Madison.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 at First Baptist Church in Madison with interment in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland. Bill's six grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Madison Building Fund.
