William Clayton "W.C." Young, Jr., 76, of Madison died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Natchez Trace Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mr. Young was born in Ashville, N.C., the middle child of five. Soon after marrying Anne Stublen, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany, and afterward resided in Virginia until 1998. He was an employee of Virginia Electric Power Company for 36 years.

After retirement he and Mrs. Young moved to Madison to be near their daughter. He was asked to serve as president of the Macedonian Call Foundation of Mississippi, which provides cars for International Mission Board missionaries while they are home on furlough.

He fulfilled a dream of learning to fly and logged thousands of hours as well as teaching many students. After his wife's death in 2012, he flew regularly with the Civil Air Patrol.

He was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and served in many roles including new church development, deacon body, pastor search committees, finance committees and director of his Life Group Department.

He also served as a Sunday morning greeter.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Anne Stublen Young, and by one brother and one sister. Survivors include a son, Greg Young of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Debbie Thigpen of Madison; 12 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brother, Carol Young of Virginia; and sister, Betty Harper of Florida.a
