Lois Geraldine Kemp Scott, 88, of Madison, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home and interment followed at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Scott was born March 29, 1924, in Longview, Texas. She graduated from Mineola High School and moved to Jackson as a young woman to work. She married Charles L. Scott on June 16, 1949, and they shared almost 60 years before he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Scott volunteered with many community organizations. She served on the board of Southern Christian Services, delivered meals with Meals on Wheels, served as a group leader for Explorer Bible Studies, answered calls at the Mississippi Crisis Hotline. She was also involved with the Jackson Symphony League, Ministries for the Blind, Girl Scouts, PTA and Children's Community Theatre. For many years she served in various ministries at First Christian Church in Jackson and was presently a member of Christ United Methodist Church. In addition, Mrs. Scott participated with the Town and Country Garden Club, several bridge clubs, and the Lunch Bunch Supper Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy Kemp and Zelma Kemp Thomas of Kilgore, Texas. Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Scott VanDeburgh of Madison, Jerry Scott Goodwin of Madison; son, Marvin Scott of Jackson; and seven grandchildren.
