Florence Mae Valentour Walsh of Madison, died on August 8. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Walsh was born on Dec. 4, 1925, to Alfred Valentour and Meddie Lee Thomas Valentour. Mae attended school in Pearl and Jackson, and Belhaven College. Mae went to work with the Middle Mississippi Council of the Girl Scouts of America in 1945, working as a secretary but also working many summers at Camp Wahi. She was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church. Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John Bilbro Walsh, her parents, and her sister MarieValentour Weathersby. She is survived by her children Margaret (Chuck) Carter, Bill (Cindy) Walsh, and Barry Walsh, all of Madison. Other survivors include her five grandchildren and one soon-to-be great grandson. (Jim) Stribling(Madison), and one soon-to-be great-grandson. Mae is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 13 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland. Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Boulevard. Donations be made in her name to the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital, Alta Woods Baptist Church, Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, or the donor's charity of choice.
