Dorothy Ann Merchant Kuykendall (71), of Ridgeland passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, March 3, 2017 at her residence due to a long bout with cancer. Services were held at Parkway Funeral Home. Dorothy was born March 2, 1946 in Carthage Mississippi to the late Thomas Burton Merchant and Dorothy Harkins Merchant.

She was a native of Carthage, Mississippi. She attended Carthage High School, East Central Junior College and Hinds Community College. She worked as a legal assistant for several law firms in the Jackson area, before accepting a position as the Executive Assistant to Governor Haley Barbour. She finished her working career at Butler Snow Law Firm in 2011.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Kuykendall of Ridgeland; two daughters, DeAnna Lively of Madison, Tracey (Dan) Lee of Madison, two stepsons Justin Kuykendall of Ridgeland, Darren (Aimee) Kuykendall of Hernando. Five Grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Mapp of Pearl, Kristen (Kyle) Adams of Hattiesburg, Austin Lee of Madison, Breckyn and Cooper Kuykendall of Hernando.

She is also survived by her brothers, Billy Merchant of Fairhope, Alabama and Frank Merchant of Carthage. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.
