Friday morning Robert Earl Harvey, Jr., 35, of Jackson, was arrested and charged with one count of capital murder in the stabbing death of 22-year-old Carmen Sanders of Ridgeland.

Harvey was arrested at the Hinds County Detention Center on Friday morning where he was being held on a larceny charge.

Sanders was found dead at the Pinebrook Apartments off Pine Knoll Drive near Old Canton Road last weekend.

Investigators with the Ridgeland Police Department were able to identify Harvey as a person of interest and through cooperation of citizens, linked Harvey to the crime. Harvey is described as an acquaintance of Sanders.

Harvey is being held in the Madison County Detention Center under no bond.

Harvey was scheduled for an initial appearance today before Ridgeland Municipal Court Judge Hal McCarley. A bond hearing has been set for Tuesday, January 26.

Sanders was a Natchez native and according to the Natchez Democrat she was living in Jackson while studying at University of Mississippi Medical Center.
