Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala. has selected Anna Kathryn Moorehead, a senior at St. Joseph Catholic High School in Madison, as the 2014 recipient of the Bishop Brunini Scholarship.  Awarded on the basis of academic ability, leadership/ involvement outside of the classroom, and dedication to serving others in the recipient's community, the Bishop Brunini Scholarship is offered to one graduating senior from the Jackson diocese.

Bishop Brunini lived his life as a leader in service to others.  Father Christopher Viscardi, a Jesuit leader at Spring Hill College, remembers the Bishop as "...both simple and profound: simple enough to love and be loved at all levels of church and society, while keenly aware of the challenges and needs of a complex, rapidly changing world."  In 1981, a scholarship was established at Spring Hill College to both honor Bishop Brunini's achievements as a leader and to foster the same qualities in the chosen recipient of this prestigious award.

Founded in 1830, Spring Hill College is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of Alabama and the nation's 3rd oldest Jesuit college.  Dedicated to forming leaders engaged in learning, faith, justice and service for life, Spring Hill College offers an excellent education rooted in the Catholic tradition with opportunities not only in its own community, but the global community as well.

In addition to the Bishop Brunini Scholarship,  Anna Kathryn was awarded the Portier Leader Award for recognition of academic excellence and outstanding leadership, and the Spring Hill Service Scholarship for her devotion to service to others.
