GLUCKSTADT — After making home calls for some time, two local physical therapists have fulfilled a lifelong dream and opened their own practice.

Brittany Flaggs, PT, DPT and Jasmine Smith, PT, DPT, graduated PT school just two years apart and always wanted to open their own physical therapy clinic.

“It has been a lifelong dream to open our physical therapy place. Previously, we had a mobile operation that made home visits. I graduated PT school in 2011 and Jasmine was just two or three years ahead of me and we have been talking about it for a while,” Flaggs said.

She added, “I give all credit to the good Lord who brought us back together and sent a lot of business our way.”

The pair had their grand opening last Tuesday, but have been moved in and operational since January. They are now open by appointment.

She said they have been busy but are hoping to bring on an additional full-time PT on soon and that should give them more regular hours.

“This gives us the opportunity to provide patients with the type of care and therapy they need and allows to really utilize our specialties. This is an up-and-coming area and we feel they need reliable options for physical therapy,” Flaggs said.

She said their specialty includes myofascial release.

Myofascial release is a technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions that are said to eliminate pain and restore motion.

They are equipped to serve all ages and have about 10 people on staff.

"In just under a year we have grown so much. We are building our staff and capabilities and growing our patient base and client list. We look forward to continuing to grow with the area," Flaggs said.
