A Highway 51 convenience store has been robbed at gunpoint for the second time in a month.

Ridgeland Police Department Lt. Brian Myers said that the Cappy’s Valero Convenience Store located, 400 Highway 51 North, was the victim of an armed robbery again Wednesday night, just 23 days after it was robbed on June 17.

As of Wednesday, Myers said that they had nothing new to report.

“No updates yet on Valero,” he said simply.

Myers said the case remains under investigation, though they expect the same person was involved in both robberies. The most recent robbery occurred Wednesday at approximately 8:40 p.m. The suspect left the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money in a plastic bag from underneath the store’s counter.

Myers said that no one was injured during the commission of either crime.

The suspect, as seen in photos taken from surveillance cameras at the business, masks his identity with clothing. Authorities describe the suspect as a black male with an average height and build.

The Ridgeland Police Department is asking anyone with information on a possible suspect to contact Crimestoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477) or RPD at 601-856-2121.

The first robbery came amid two other incidents including the shooting death of an innocent man at Midway Park and an armed robbery at the Gamestop on County Line Road.
