MADISON — Five teenagers were arrested here last Friday in connection with recent auto burglaries in Northbay and around the metro area that allegedly involved stealing weapons to trade for drugs and cash.
Noah Brian McRae, 18, of 607 Bay Park Drive in Brandon, and Austin Payne Bieliauskas, 18, of 575 Pelahatchie Shore Drive in Brandon, have both been initially charged with burglary. They remain in custody at the Madison County Detention Center awaiting bond.
Three juveniles also arrested during the investigation were sent to a youth detention center.
According to a release from the Madison Police Department, more arrests are expected in this case.
Police were able to crack open the auto burglary ring on April 14 when officers investigating a runaway juvenile found two suspects near the Northbay clubhouse.
“While conducting their investigation, officers discovered a backpack that contained several firearms, knives, sunglasses, and assorted change,” police stated. “It was determined that the items had been taken out of unlocked vehicles in the subdivision.”
Police then collaborated with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, Reservoir Police and the Ridgeland Police and further investigation yielded three stolen firearms taken from the metro area.
The MPD release said, “The items that were recovered were going to be traded by the suspects for drugs and three of the firearms had already been traded for money and drugs in the City of Jackson.”
