MADISON — One of Jackson’s favorite family-friendly restaurants is opening a new location in Colony Crossing Shopping Center this year.

Sal & Mookie’s New York Pizza and Ice Cream Joint recently announced plans to open its third Mississippi-based location in the space formerly occupied by Georgia Blue in the shopping center located at the corner of Highway 463 and Bozeman Road.

Renovation of the space is slated to start this month, and the group is targeting an opening date in early May.

“This space is perfect,” Sal & Mookie’s co-owner Jeff Good said “It’s as large as our Jackson location and will easily support the ice cream shop, bar and two private diving rooms, along with a great number of comfortable seating options in the main dining room.”

Sal & Mookie’s Madison LLC will be majority owned and operated by licensees Patrick Munn and Hali Sappington, two veteran employees of Sal & Mookie’s and one of Good’s other restaurants, BRAVO!

Munn said partnering with Good and Sal & Mookie’s chef Dan Blumenthal was a no-brainer.

“Dan and Jeff have been nothing but gracious in their support and vision,” Munn said. “As the restaurant owners of this licensed location, Hali and I are going to strive to build a team of service-minded team members focused on bringing a phenomenal experience to our guests.”

Sal & Mookie’s flagship location has been in operation in the Fondren area of Jackson since 2007. It’s second location is in Biloxi.

The space at Colony Crossing previously house Georgia Blue, which left in September 2019. A new facility for Georgia Blue was built off Highway 463 across from the Primos Cafe and Baptist Healthplex.
