Madison County School officials have announced they will have a delayed start for students on Wednesday, January 3, their first day back in session after Christmas Break, citing weather related precautions.

Communications Coordinator Gene Wright said in a release that due to extreme cold temperatures, busses will run one hour later than regularly scheduled, beginning pick up at 7:00 a.m. rather than 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. This information matched messages on the school districts social media pages and official website.

“This delay is to ensure that all systems, including heat, water, and technology, are operational in all school facilities before students return from the holiday break,” Wright’s release said. “While all systems are running well today, January 2, MCS will use the delayed start Wednesday to make sure the continued extreme cold over night does not cause any operational issues.”

Wednesday is the first day of class for 2018. All faculty and staff are expected to be at the schools on their regular schedules.

All Madison county schools will accept students when they arrive.

All MC schools will dismiss as regularly scheduled.
