A Madison woman is headed to Peducah, Ky. for the American Quilter’s Society national contest.

Cathy Reninger Madison was recently accepted as a contestant with her quilt “Serendipity.” The competition features almost 700 contestants and quilts from around the world with $121,250 in cash awards for winners.

The quilts in the competition come from 38 U.S. states and 16 other countries around the world. The competition is set for Sept. 11 - Sept. 13th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The AQS, now in its 35th year, is the largest quiliting membership organization in the world.
