Canton Recycles initiative began approximately three years ago as a grass roots recycling program in the city.
The program has been a success and has illustrated its sustainability in the community. With the assistance of the City of Canton, two grants from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, a grant from Keep Mississippi Beautiful, Allen's Recycling (located in Canton), and local citizen's contributions, Canton Recycles has been able to purchase five recycling roll-off boxes (poppers), a trailer to haul the boxes, corrugated receptacles, and has secured funds to begin an educational program to offer all citizens.
