A section of Renaissance at Colony Park will transform into a runway fashion show on April 14 at 1 p.m. and an open casting call for all ages, shapes and sizes will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 12.

Tim Gunn, Liz Claiborne chief creative officer and co-host of the television hit Project Runway, will be on-hand for the live Lucky Brand Jeans Runway Show. In its second year, Gunn and crew travel to shopping destinations and will unveil the 2012 Lucky Brands line. Professional models will escort local models, selected at the casting call, for the live show.

Leah Caruso-Salak, director of marketing and special events for Liz Claiborne and co-host of the event, is excited about the trip to the Magnolia State.

"Tim really enjoys reaching as many men and women as possible," she began. "He has so much knowledge and experience when it comes to fashion and style. So, I looked at the history of where we have been over the last five years and saw that we had never been to Mississippi.

"We both felt it was high time we made a trip and it worked out perfectly," she continued. "Renaissance at Colony Park is a magnificent property and Lucky Brand Jeans has an incredible store there."

The team is quickly spreading the word about the open casting call and encourages everyone, regardless of age, shape and size to try out. Not everyone will be picked, but everyone has a shot.

"I truly believe that putting on a fashion show with only one body type represented is a major opportunity lost for any company," Caruso-Salak said. "We are not all 5'10' and a size 2, which most runway models tend to be. So, when professional models walk the runway, sometimes the messaging behind the look gets lost on people who can't relate to that body.

"Tim speaks throughout our entire fashion show, giving guests solutions to everyday wardrobe dilemmas," she continued. "When we have real people with real bodies on the stage looking absolutely fabulous in Lucky Brand Jeans, his solutions on style, proportion and fit and his overall messaging is only enhanced."

In past shows, they have had a 51-year-old woman, as well as a woman who was a size 16.

"In Atlanta last year we casted a couple who had been married for over 40 years walk the runway together and the audience just loved it," Caruso-Salak said.

In addition to the runway show, guests who purchase at least $100 from the Lucky Brands Jeans store between April 8-14 get to meet Gunn at the store and have their photo taken by a professional photographer. A limited-edition tote will also be given out while supplies last.

"I am really absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to put on this event in Ridgeland," Caruso-Salak added. "Every time we leave for another city we truly do get so excited for all aspects of our events. From meeting new people at the in-store casting, to pulling and styling the fashion show right from the store, to seeing how excited guests are to meet Tim - we get such a rush from all of it."

The fashion show will begin at 1 p.m. on Via St. Andrews St., west of the clock tower. No reservations are necessary but seating is limited.
