Norma Dees Laird, 87, of Madison died Saturday, April 12th, 2014. Funeral services were held April 14 at Christ United Methodist Church with graveside services at Union Cemetery in Union, MS.

Norma was born in Philadelphia on Sept. 11, 1926. She was a resident of Union until 1975 when she moved to Jackson.

A longtime employee of University of Mississippi Medical Center, she was Associate Registrar before retiring. After leaving UMMC, she worked for the legislature in the Senate Docket room and also served as secretary to the Senate President Pro Tem.

She moved to Sunnybrook Retirement Home in 2011. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Willie Dees, her two brothers, Anse and George Dees; and her son, Robert Dees Laird.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Hugh) Stubbs of Madison and Alice (Bucky) Murphy of Canton, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
