While crews continue to work on the new Gluckstadt interchange at I-55, the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) asks motorists to please slow down, use caution when travelling through the work zone and obey all posted signage.
In September 2013, reconstruction of the Gluckstadt Interchange began and the six-phase project is scheduled to be complete in 2015.
Crews are currently preparing the new I-55 southbound entrance and exit ramps at the Gluckstadt interchange to open this week. There will be a temporary traffic signal in place on Gluckstadt Road to direct traffic at the west intersection. Dirt excavation work continues on the east side of Gluckstadt Rd. Crews are filling the abutments of the new bridge so they can start the bridge deck construction process.
The next portion of the project will see the completion of the bridge deck, the alignment of Dees Dr. and the construction of Gluckstadt Rd. on the east side of the bridge. The project is expected to be complete in June 2015.
