Madison River Oaks Medical Center has named Rhonda Thomas as 2013 Employee of the Year. This award is the highest honor bestowed on a hospital employee each year. Ms. Thomas was chosen from among 375 employees for the honor.

"Health care requires a special blend of great people skills, tireless energy and the ability to work well under pressure," says Bryan Bogle, Chief Executive Officer. "People who work in health care share the common desire to help others and make a difference in people's lives. It's a pleasure to recognize our employees for their dedication to our patients and to providing outstanding care."

Employees are nominated for the award by their hospital peers based on their commitment to patient care, their professionalism, and their contributions on the job.

Rhonda Thomas is the Chief Medical Technologist of the Laboratory and has worked for Madison River Oaks Medical Center since January of 2006. Rhonda says she originally entered the healthcare field because she finds pleasure in helping people. She states "I was taught that when you do good (the best you can), good will always follow you." I also felt that there would always be job opportunities in the healthcare field. She further states that the rewarding moments at work is when I have made a positive impact on someone's life. "Nothing compares to seeing someone smile or telling you how wonderful they feel".

Debbie Rawson, Lab Director, says "Rhonda works very hard to ensure that the laboratory offers quality service to all of our customers. She did an excellent job preparing for our CAP inspection last year, and she continues to be a very dedicated employee to Madison River Oaks. She was very deserving of this recognition."

"Each of our employees has a specific role in the delivery of quality health care to the people who live and work in and around the Madison County," said Bogle. "Our success in meeting the needs of the patients we serve is dependent on the collective efforts of all employees."
