MADISON - Officials approved a site plan and architectural design on Tuesday for a Longhorn Steakhouse to be built here.

The restaurant will be located at the Forum of Grandview and officials hope it will open by the end of the year.

"This is right off of Grandview Boulevard, in front of Menchies Frozen Yogurt," Alan Hoops, director of community development, said. "Planning & Zoning took up the site plan and recommended approval."

Jack Degania, an architect for Longhorn, was present at Tuesday's meeting and told the Mayor and Board of Aldermen he hopes to see a quick construction.

"It's about a five-month construction period," he said. "I'll say Christmas, the end of the year, is a very good possibility (it will be open.)"

Board members raved over the look of the restaurant, with Mayor Mary Hawkins-Butler saying, "It's absolutely Madison."
