MADISON - A local dentistry group aims to give back to the community with a day of free dental care on Friday.

The event is called Dentistry from the Heart, which is led by non-profit organization based out of Florida of the same name. Dentistry of the Heart sponsors over 300 events all over the united States and Canada and abroad.

Holly Hardin, PR and Marketing Director for Key Dental group in Madison, said that it was started about fourteen years ago. This is Key dental's third year to participate.

She said Dr. Chad Stokes and Dr. Joe Collins put the event together at the practice to give back to the community.

"They feel as if people have been very good to them and they want to give back to the community in return.  They thought this would be a great opportunity to do so," Hardin said.

The first year Key Dental helped 120 patients and 190 the next year.

"We can't wait to see what the 3rd year has to hold," Hardin said.

This event is for people in financial need that do not obtain dental insurance and are not a patient of record. Patients must be 18 years or older. Registration for the event starts at Key Dental at 7 a.m. on April 8. They will begin seeing patients at 7:30 a.m. and go straight through till 5 p.m. Normal operations will be suspended.

Procedures include extractions, restorative procedures and dental cleanings.

"It is an opportunity to have dental work done for free for patients that have pain all the way to cosmetic issues.  They hope this day has a positive impact on patients and that they will feel more confident about themselves after," Hardin said.

Dr. Beau Murphy and staff as well as other local dentists and their staff will join Collins and Stokes.
