RIDGELAND - A female homicide victim died after being stabbed multiple times according to preliminary crime lab results released by law enforcement officials Monday.

Carmen Sanders, 22, was found dead at the Pinebrook Apartments off Pine Knoll Drive near Old Canton Road over the weekend.

Lt. John Neal reported Monday afternoon Sanders died from multiple stab wounds from "some type of knife."

Neal would not comment on how many times Sanders was stabbed and reported that they currently have no suspects in the case and have made no arrests at this time.

"We do have a couple of people who we've still got to track down as persons of interest," Neal said, explaining these would be people who knew Sanders and may have additional information.

Neal added that Sanders' boyfriend has been very cooperative throughout their initial investigation.

"He by no means is a suspect right now," Neal said. "He's giving us a lot of information on her whereabouts before the incident."

Neal said they received a call when Sanders' body was found around 11 p.m. last Friday night, but officials have not narrowed the time of death beyond that.

They do have reports from neighbors that put Sanders' car at her apartment around 10 p.m.

Sanders is a Natchez Native and according to the Natchez Democrat she was living in Jackson while studying at University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Ridgeland police are asking anyone with information on the case to contact them at 601-856-2121.
