CANTON - An elderly Canton man remains hospitalized in a coma following a severe beating last week outside his Avondale Road home.
Bobby J. Hall, 75, was reportedly at the end of his driveway picking up a newspaper around 5:30 a.m. Friday when he was attacked and robbed. He was found unconscious.
On Monday, Canton Police arrested three individuals in the case, including the alleged attacker Xavier Collins Johnson.
Johnson, 20, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and burglary.
Ashley Denise Williams, 23, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, receiving stolen property, and credit card fraud.
Kimberly Monekia Williams, 19, was charged with the same three counts.
All three remain at the Madison County Detention Center.
Canton Det. Terrance Ware said police were alerted when Johnson and two female accomplices used Hall's stolen credit cards at the Madison Wal-Mart on Grandview Boulevard.
"We're happy to say the suspects in that particular case are behind bars," Canton Mayor Arnel Bolden said. "We are going to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law for this senseless act of violence."
