C Spire Wireless recently activated 4G LTE service on a new cell site in Canton, expanding and filling in coverage on the high-speed data network it launched last December for the city.

4G LTE allows C Spire customers to download apps and game faster, open files almost instantly, do real-time video chat, surf the mobile web, stream movies, music and video and post status updates and photos at speeds up to 10 times faster than previously possible.

The new 4G LTE site will help improve in-building coverage and provide additional capacity in the city's downtown area to help balance consumer demand during peak use periods and special events throughout the year.

C Spire introduced 4G LTE services last year as part of a multi-million dollar investment to bring the next generation of high-speed wireless technology to consumers and businesses in 37 Mississippi markets covering 2,700 square miles, a population of 1.2 million and 388 cell sites.

The company plans to continue those efforts in 2013 with expansion in other parts of its primary service area - all part of its commitment to provide a personalized mobile broadband experience that gives users unmatched speed and reliability powered by one of the world's most advanced fiber optics-based networks.

"We'll continue to lead the way with 4G LTE so that our customers have the wireless services that allow them to do what they want to do when they need to do it in more places that matter to them - all at the speed of light," said David Smith, vice president of Network Engineering for C Spire.
