New information has led the authorities to believe she left home on her own free will and may be in the New York City area.

A runaway report has been filed by the family and a Preliminary Order of Custody has been issued by the Madison County Youth Court, according ot a release by the Madison Police Department Tuesday afternoon.

Bonner was first reported missing by her parents Aug. 3 from their home on Belle Rose Circle in Madison.

The family has since offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to her safe return.

Family members have also set up a website www.lookingforabigail.com and a Facebook page Looking for Abigail that has received over 10,000 likes.

Police say their focus is still the safe return of the teen.
