TNew Stage Theatre will be holding open auditions for non-Equity and Equity adult actors for the 2018-2019 season.



The theatre is seeking all types of adult actors and singers, from age 18 to 80 and child actors age 6 and up to portray roles in Morningside, Diary of Anne Frank, A Christmas Carol, Hell in High Water, Sweet Potato Queens: the Musical, Sweat, and Bright Star.



Youth auditions are on August 6th and adult auditions are on August 13th.



All youth appointments should be made by parents unless student has a driver license. All interested in auditioning will need to call after those dates for an audition appointment. To make an appointment for an audition, call 601.948.3533 ext 222.

 

Welcome Neighbor

club meets monthly



Come join Jackson Area Welcome Neighbor Club to develop friendships, enlighten and familiarize newcomers to the Tri-County area, hear interesting speakers, and enjoy all we have to offer.  We have fascinating programs and enjoy lunch at the Country Club of Jackson.

Belhaven Nights

Join us for Greater Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation’s 14th annual street festival, Bright Lights Belhaven Nights, scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2018, 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., in the historic Belhaven neighborhood.

This family fun event presented by Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, C Spire, The Manship, Southern Beverage Company and Medical Practice Solutions will feature live music on three stages, as well as local, handmade craft vendors and the most delicious food and beverages from Mississippi’s restaurants and breweries.

The 2018 event will feature Robert Randolph & The Family Band as the festival headliner. A full band line-up will be announced closer to the event. Children of all ages will enjoy our special and ever-popular children’s activities area. Advance tickets are $10 per person and are available online at www.greaterbelhaven.com or $15 at the gate (cash only).

Children ages 12 and under are free and must be with a supervising adult. Gates open at 5 p.m.



School Readiness program Aug. 3

The North Madison County Excel by 5 is holding its annual School Readiness/Back to School Health Fair on Friday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s AME Church at 505 S. Union St. in Canton.  

Admission is FREE. Children (especially age 0-5) and their caregivers are invited to attend the event where school age children will receive book bags provided by the North Madison Co. Coalition Excel by 5 and the Madison County Business League and Foundation.

Children can stop by each booth at the event to pick-up free school supplies. Health screenings, vision, hearing and dental screenings will also be available to help kids meet the back to school health requirements.

Children can enjoy games, face painting and manicures. Hot dogs and chips are also available while supplies last.



While the children enjoy activities at the booths, parents and caregivers are invited to listen to a number of educational presentations from guest speakers at the simultaneous School Readiness Rally. Topics include, Partnering In Your Children’s Education by Henry Moore, Families as Allies; Healthy Body, Healthy Mind by Jalecia Vaughn, Kinesiology & Psychology Major, USM; and Every Child Ready to Read by Tonja Johnson, Madison County Library System.
