RIDGELAND — A 12-year-old boy was shot at the Arbors At the Reservoir apartment complex on Lake Harbour Drive this afternoon.

Lt. Tony Willridge of the Ridgeland Police Department said the child was shot in the face but “is doing very well.” Willridge said the bullet went through the cheek and appeared to have caused no structural or bone damage. 
  • One alleged teen killer of boy was out on bond  for armed robbery in Ridgeland
    One of three teenagers arrested and charged with capital murder in the shooting death of six-year-old Kingston Frazier was set to stand trial in June  for an armed robbery in Ridgeland last year. 
  • (UPDATE) Man arrested as alleged shooter of 6-year-old
    Byron McBride has been arrested and is the alleged shooter of six-year-old Kingston Frazier, who was to have graduated kindergarten today.
  • MHP responds to wreck near Natchez Trace

    This afternoon around 1:38 p.m., officers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to MS 43 near the Natchez Trace to a two vehicle accident involving two Chevrolet pickup trucks.

    A silver Chevrolet pickup truck was rear ended by a white Chevrolet pickup truck in the south bound lane of MS 43.

  • Madison Ward 3 Alderman candidate withdraws from race day before Madison residents to cast vote

    Just one day before the local primaries, a candidate has withdrawn from the Ward 3 Alderman race in Madison.

    Jay Witcher submitted a signed note to Madison City Hall Monday, stating he wished to drop out of the race for the Alderman Ward 3 position currently held by Ken Jacobs.

    When asked for comment, Witcher said he was taking on new responsibilities at work and would not be able to adequately spend time serving on the Board of Alderman.
    Witcher added in his note that if elected he would not serve.

    Witcher’s name will remain on Tuesday’s ballot since they had already been printed.

  • Office-involved shooting in Ridgeland bank robbery injured 16-year-old suspect

    RIDGELAND — An officer-involved shooting during a holdup a BankCorpSouth branch on Pear Orchard here Tuesday afternoon apparently involved a 16-year-old, according to media reports.

  • Spillway Road upper lanes over dam to close Wednesday morning
    The westbound upper lanes of Spillway Road over the dam will be closed Wednesday morning to bring new equipment to the Reservoir control tower and the lower eastbound lanes will become two-way most of the day.
